One Woman's Quest to Lose Large and Ugly Panties Forever

I've had it with ugly panties that fit my large behind. I'm done with clothes for the large woman that just aren't as cute as the clothes I wore twenty years ago. I'm tired of wheezing as I go up the stairs. I've got sixty pounds to lose - because on my fiftieth birthday, I'm dancing naked in a thong, dammit. And it better be pretty. This little bunny rabbit is hopping me down the weight loss lane. I wanted a pair of big granny panties rolling through the grass, but I'm not computer savvy.

Time Flies

I am just loving reading everyone's blogs. Most blogs seem to come from normal people who are using the forum to keep them honest, connect with others who are on the same journey and get the social support we ALL need at times to stay sane in this pursuit of health. And then there are other bloggers - none of whom I follow - who seem to just DITHER FOREVER. Lots of what seem like attempts but then - piffle. And that is OK, honestly it is. But I find myself getting sortof snotty when I read it.

I think I am projecting my own anxiety about starting the next diet phase of limited food choices and hunger and am must projecting it onto those people. Perhaps I worry that I will become one of those people. I am ambivalent about this next weight loss section because let's face it, weight loss SUCKS. It's never easy, it never allows you to just "eat what you want" unless you WANT diet food, which I do not. It asks you to be more active (and this is something I am truly and honestly dreading). I will have to drink more water. Sigh. I will have to increase regimentation, which I am absolutely able to do, but OH, I got so bored on HCG in the past that I admit I dread it.

I have been faithful to the program I started in early January, including taking six weeks off of the restrictive part and NOT lose more weight, but to consistently maintain it.

And those six weeks are drawing to a close.

And now I have to face the fact that 188 is NOT ALL THAT MUCH BETTER THAN 215 - well, OK it is, but not like others' losses of 100 pounds or more. I mean it's better than 300 or something, health wise, but let's face it: It's time to get ON with it. Jeez, I'm acting like I'm going to have to feel miserable and limited and whining forever. Hell what's another four to six weeks of hard HCG or less hard but longer Other More Reasonable plan?

SO, what program should I go on? The HCG plan is very do-able and extremely effective, but it's odious. I am considering Weight Watchers. I am also planning on asking Allan about his Challenge as well. What are all of you doing out there? Atkins? South Beach? Limiting calories and eating generally healthily?

I need to choose a program that allows for at least one pound and preferably two pounds per week weight loss. And I need to do it pretty damn soon.

  1. I'll bet Atkins would do wonders for you...basically what you should be doing now, maybe just tweaking cals a bit to go into losing mode...I find the idea of giving up meat scary, but i'm a carnivore through and through...I LOVE paleo eating...I do not feel deprived in the least and find that with that program I can occasionally indulge in something that would be considered "food fuckery" and be done with it without repercussions. Whatever you decide to do I hope you can find some way to "enjoy" it. I "enjoy" seeing the scale go down with hcg pretty dang quickly, I actually "enjoy" disengaging from food while on hcg (not that it doesn't drive me nutty at times) and putting my mind into other things other than "eating"...does that make sense? Anyhooo....we're about at the same point...depending on TOM for me is when i'll start back up. You go girl! I have faith whatever you do you'll do it well :)

  2. In my opinion the healthier diets are Weight watchers and the GI Diet but I personally think that the healthiest way to lose weight is to eat healthy foods, know how much calories your body needs, eat 500 calories less a day than your BMR and more importantly watch your carb and sugar intake..(to keep your insulin levels from shooting up) and exercise. Get moving and eat healthy.. Learn how to read labels and understand how your body works.. do some research and you'll have it figured out in no time...

  3. I find I do best when I log all my calories online each day. I use MyFitnessPal.com. I also use it to keep track of measurements and weigh in once a week. You can enter the percentages of which nutrients you want monitored. I keep my protein fairly high, the carbs and fat low, and my sodium under 1800 mcg. That means not a whole lot of processed foods. If I stay within my limits and am honest with my tracking I lose weight each week without fail.

I hope you find the program that works best for you!

  4. i tried alot of low carb diets like Atkins, the Heller diet, Weight Watchers, etc... I got a lapband because maintaining was too hard even though each diet worked well with weight loss. None of them were for long term... although Weight watchers is the best for long term. I agree with everything healthierhappierwiser said. I log with myfitnesspal all calories, keep the carbs on the low side and the protein on the high side... and eat less than my body burns in a resting state.

  5. For What It's Worth
I didn't go on a weight loss plan, I decided that I was going to change my whole life. How I ate, what I did, how I lived... and 57 pounds later it has worked. I do count calories but I don't live by them, I do workout but I do it because it feels good. I'm in a challenge with Allan, not because I think I couldn't do it alone but because I wanted to challenge myself. (and the prizes are pretty damned cool)

I want "diet" food but I also live my life and eat a cookie if I want a cookie. I'm at 176 and honestly, if I never lost another pound, I'd be okay with that because I'm living a happier, healthier life. I hope you find what you are looking for and what works for you. It's easier when you want to do it and are not fighting your own will.

  6. Well a form of Atkins might work. I've been limiting my carbs to mornings only so that thoughout the day I'm burning those up. So at lunch, dinner no breads, pastas, starchy veggies etc..seems to be helping. Good luck :)

  8. I am just trying to be sensible. I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day and exercise (walking and biking) about an hour a day. It works for me; slow and steady weight loss. Might give something like that a try.

Thanks for your posts. It's the best reinforcement I can have that has no calories.
